Different Sources of Protein
Protein is a macromolecule that is essential for human life. Without it, our bodies would not be able to function. Many people think that meat is the only way to get enough protein besides supplements, but this doesn’t have to be the case! Meat does contain of of the essential amino acids we need to survive. This is also a called a complete protein. This is the easiest way to get these nutrients.
Vegetarians can get all of the essential nutrients out of the food that they eat. For example, by eating beans, rice, and some type of vegetable, you are getting all of the protein that is necessary for the body to function! Nuts are also a great source.
Many foods are also fortified with proteins, such as cereals, breads, and granola bars. Though this is not the ideal way to obtain nutritional needs, it still works! In general, the average American does not need to worry about their protein intake.
