Snacking Right
Everyone loves a great snack, but there is definitely a right way to do it!
Snacks are meant to carry you from one meal to the next when you get a little hungry. Many people snack on unhealthy items like potato chips, cookies, or candy. Even things that claim to be healthy, like dried fruits, can have added sugars if you check the ingredient list. Some good examples of healthy snacks are a handful of raw almonds, fresh fruits, veggies with hummus, and hard-boiled eggs. If you want to get creative, you can even make homemade granola with no added sugar.
Snacks like these are great to take to work, on hikes, or to any event. By making something portable, it makes it less tempting to buy a bag of potato chips or a candy bar when you’re out and about. Keep in mind while snacking, too, that you probably don’t want to be eating an excessive amount of calories unless you are being active.
